Wednesday, 19 October 2011 Afrisys now provides IS "Uncapped" Services! We are all aware that the so called "Uncapped" accounts are currently being "abused" by many users according to the local ISPs. The truth of the matter is that these accounts are inherently NOT uncapped. The ISPs have calculated what they expect to be used and accordingly will throttle the user if "too much" bandwidth is used at full line speed for "too long". The service from IS (Internet Solutions) is similar but also different – yes an oxymoron. IS monitors all users and will only limit speed during the hours 08h00 – 20h00 if usage is harsh. The user is measured against other users and the top 20% - 50% (depending on package) will be limited during the above hours over a rolling period of 10 days. No additional throttling will be instated by Afrisys (as many ISPs do) other than that of IS. We are confident that the small business that require a good, fast and reliable connection using between 20GB and 100GB per month will find these services to be suited well to their requirements. Afrisys started supplying iBurst modems officially as of March 2005 although we were offering and marketing the service from December 2004. The reason being that Afrisys wanted to be sure of the quality of the iBurst product and service. As it stands now, the iBurst service stabilised around mid-March 2005 and overall most customers are very satisfied with the service, unlike customers from competitive services. iBurst in South Africa is rapidly expanding the coverage, although, if it was faster it would be even better. The coverage to date is very good, but some areas within the Witwatersrand (Gauteng) are still not covered. Afrisys is currently expanding its own coverage by the appointment of resellers for iBurst and all the web services along with it. This enables Afrisys to get to some of the smaller businesses that previously thought it was impossible to become "web enabled".
